On 29 April 2015 the Russian History Competition "Man in History - Russia in the 20th Century” celebrated its 16th award ceremony in the “Theatre of Young Spectators” in Moscow. The jury selected 53 finalists out of a number of 2,024 authors. Prior to the award ceremony the finalists gathered for a five day intensive workshop about “Memorials to Victims of political Repressions in Russia”. The Russian competition has been conducted by the eldest Russian non-governmental organisation MEMORIAL International since 1999.

This year, the Russian EUSTORY competition celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since the MEMORIAL Society Moscow announced the first Russian competition for high-school students in March 1999, more than 36,000 young people from all over Russia have handed in research papers regarding the topic “Man in History - Russia in the 20th Century”.

Youngsters from all over Russia celebrated the award ceremony of the 14th Russian history competition run by the International MEMORIAL Society in Moscow on 30 April 2013. It was great to see so much enthusiasm and commitment in these difficult times!

The awardees of this year's Russian history competition “Man in History – Russia in the 20th Century” gathered at the award ceremony in Moscow on 4 May 2012. Among others, Ljudmilla Alexeeva, President of the Moscow Helskinki group and one of Russia´s most famous human rights activists, honoured the prize winners and their contributions at the ceremony.
