Swedish Award Ceremony 2013

The award ceremony of the Swedish History Competition was held in the University of Kristianstad on 24th of May. The topic of this year’s competition was (E) Migration: Immigration and Emigration in a local perspective. In attendance were the prizewinners, their tutors and parents. The ceremony was conducted by organiser Zenita Johansson, project leader professor Hans Albin Larsson and professor Marie-Louise Rodén.

The first prize was awarded to a group of students from the ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium in Helsingborg - Olle Gellberg, Tilda Lynander, Sofia Nilsson, My Skoog and Christoffer Tolf. Their essay was called "Helsingborg - A Divided City".

The second prize went to Alice Jönsson from Tekniska Skolan in Hässleholm, with her essay "My Great Grandma Anna’s Journey to America". The winners of the third prize also came from ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium in Helsingborg and the title of their essay was "Religion and Migration", written by Kalle Swenson, Jesper Olsson, Ricci Chan-Udom, Ghena Osman and Anna Söderberg.

The prize winners received diplomas, books and some money. The tutors also received books and diplomas as well as an invitation to a history conference for teachers in Finland.

The formal ceremony was followed by a lovely lunch for all the young prize winners.
