Slovak Award Ceremony 2019
On 21 June 2019, the winners of the 14th Slovak History Competition were awarded at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava under the auspices of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO. This year’s topic was "Velvet Revolution Through the Eyes of Contemporary Witnesses".
Zuzana Jezerska, Coordinator of the Slovak EUSTORY programme and Executive Director of the Slovak Center for Communication and Development opened the event.
The keynote was held by František Neupauer, historian, publicist, and teacher. He spoke about the struggle for democracy and liberty. Ema Zorkóczyová, who participated in three previous history competitions, reported about her experience as participant of last year's international EUSTORY Next Generation Summit in Berlin – "Making Peace with History". The General Secretary Elect of the Slovak Commission of UNESCO, Mrs. Viera Grigova, attended the ceremony as did both members of the jury.

Since 2009, the Slovak competition has been organised by the Slovak Centre for Communication and Development (SCCD), a non-profit organisation that was founded in 2005. Since 2017, the competition is held under the auspices of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO.
